6 days left
it has been 2.5 monthes since i last wrote. so much has happened. i will summarize the most important things.
i reached my peak training almost one month ago and was training at my peak for 2 weeks and then started my tappering down. it has been so wonderful tappering down because i feel as though i am finally getting to rest a bit more in preparation for the big day. i will work out in SF tomorrow and wednesday and then in humid chicago on thursday.
there are two informational web sites on the course that i will be doing (sprint-distance triathlon course)- one is gaygames.com and the other is chicagotriathlon.com.
i received a scholarship from Team San Francisco- an organization of LGBT athletes from the Bay Area who are competing at the Gay Games. Team SF will be the first contingency to march into Soldier Field at the Opening Ceremonies- to be held on Saturday, 7/15. Team SF will march first in honor of SF being the host city for the very first Gay Games.
the other super exciting thing is that i went into the SF Bay to practice swimming in "open waters" and all i have to write is one thing and that is "COLD!!!" i went in with a friend, Eimher, who has done triathlons in the past and is currently training for one. and i must say, she was a great coach! i was scared as hell but she coached me through it all. she taught me all of the tricks of the trade. many kudos to Eim! (pictures above.)
there is so much more to say but i am out of time. i will be writing every day for the next 7 or so days... so stay tuned.
